Using a Condenser Microphone?
I just purchased a Rode condenser microphone to record vocals onto my computer. However I am completely clueless as to what I need in order to record. As in what cords do I need. etc etc.
You would likely benefit from buying a small mixer or Microphone Preamp. This will allow you to control the volume of the mic from your desktop. You will also want to check to see if you microphone requires Phantom Power, and if this is the case you will NEED a preamp or mixer that provides this as the PC definitely does not provide it. (For mics that require phantom power, they will generally produce no sound at all unless they are provided the power.)
For cables, you again will want to check your mic, but it is almost always an Xlr Cable. Plugging into a mixer generally requires an Xlr Female (mic side) to Xlr Male (mixer side).
Then you will need a cable to connect the mixer to the PC, this would generally be RCA to 1/8" stereo, or two 1/4" mono to 1/8" stereo.
